Day 2

Mark 4:35-41 NIV
“That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
What do we acquire (gain, obtain) thru the perfect storm?
1. EDUCATION
We go to school, God’s classroom.
His classroom doesn’t look like what we think it should
I firmly believe, we mature more in a storm than in seasons of calm
It’s in the storm that we are educated in the following:
- Pain
It’s a lesson that we cannot avoid
Also we get educated about
- Pace
This is about timing – pace ourselves. Neither you nor I can rush the storm
In addition to those things we learn a lot about the following in the perfect storm:
a. About Ourselves
b. About Our God
Its in the midst of the storm we discover more about our GOD
He is a high tower – safety
He is my rock – stability
He is My shepherd – source
c. Our friends – its in the storm we are able to tell who our friends are
What else we acquire:
2. EXPOSURE
How would we ever know deliverance without a dilemma
If we never had a problem how would we know he could solve’em
2 main things usually are exposed:
•Cause of the storm
•Condition of our faith
The last thing we acquire is:
3. ELEVATION
GE 7:17 For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth
What is thought to have engulfed you – elevates you
The perfect storm elevates us..
